3. I have opened an email sent by a friend and clicked on a link that looked legitimate and harmless. Once i opened the attachment, it automatically downloads software to my computer. I do not know what has happened and how to fix it.
Phishing scams are becoming more and more common. This type of attack allows hackers to trick users into clicking on malicious links that allow them to steal their personal information. The most common targets of this type of attack are corporate employees and personal emails.
If you accidentally click on a phishing link or download a malicious file, you can still take action to protect yourself by following these TIPS:
- Desconnect the device
- Change your passwords
- Use scanning systems to look for malware
- Clear your browser data and don´t manage additional accounts
- Make sure to report spam emails
- Make sure your computer's software and security are up to date.
- Use passwords that are difficult to guess.
- Change the passwords of any accounts you believe are compromised.
- Use different passwords for different accounts
- Use two-factor authentication
- Back up your files to a secure device on a regular basis (ideally one that is not continuously connected to the network)
all ok
